FAQ
Q: Who is eligible to participate in Partners 4 Success?
A: Anyone 18 years of age is eligible to participate in the program who may be experiencing employment challenges.
Q: Do I need a high school diploma to participate?
A: No. A high school diploma is not required to participate in P4S. The program is designed to support individuals from various educational backgrounds. Assessments and supports will be addressed to achieve the credential during and/or following P4S programming.
Q: How long is the program and what does it cover?
A: The program runs for 12 weeks and covers a wide variety of topics that are essential to lasting professional success. This includes resume building, interview preparation, job search strategies, and key personal skills like communication, time/task management, and problem-solving. Additionally, a significant emphasis is placed on the importance of developing the personal skills necessary to not only get the job, but keep it. This includes building growth mindset, being able to learn from feedback and challenges, and choosing supportive personal relationships.
Q: What is the time commitment required for the program?
A: Participants are expected to commit to attending classes every day from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, over 12 weeks.
Q: How do I apply for the program?
A: To apply for the program, begin by attending a required information meeting before the course starts. At that time, a questionnaire will be completed and reviewed with a P4S staff member. If still interested in pursing the program, two other documents will need to be completed so P4S staff can provide wrap around support, potentially with other case management staff that will allow for a successful class start date.
Q: What support services are available to participants?
A: Recognizing that logistical challenges can impact participation, P4S staff work with students to see what supports are in place and what might be needed to make class attendance possible. Strategies around childcare, transportation, and other potential barriers are considered.
Q: Is there a cost to participate in the program?
A: There is a $250 materials fee associated with the program. This fee is often covered by a participating partner agency, e.g., Community Corrections, DCF, or Heartland Early Learning. If a referring agency is not involved, scholarships or fee waiver are options. Please contact our office to get more information.
Q: What should I expect to gain from participating?
A: Participants gain the core professional skills necessary to apply for and maintain quality employment. Additionally, participants can expect to learn the personal skills necessary to maintain that employment. This translates into lasting change in every aspect of their lives, from mental and physical health to financial literacy. The program introduces participants to a continuously evolving network of agencies and employers and invites students to begin building meaningful relationships in the Salina area.
Q: How is success measured in the program?
A: Success in the P4S program is measured through a combination of professional and personal progress. Punctuality, job search strategies, interview performance, and overall commitment to the learning journey are a part of this progress. Participants work closely with the facilitator to create an individualized, goal-oriented learning journey. Regular assessments and feedback during the program help gauge progress and contribute to a cumulative evaluation.
Q: Is the Salina Adult Education Center on a bus route?
