GED

SAEC offers a wide variety of services for students needing to improve math, reading and writing at a basic, GED prep or college preparation level.  Trained instructors provided targeted instruction based from regular assessments around student goals. Students study to prepare to earn their Kansas State High School Diploma, issued by the Kansas Board or Regents. 

GED instruction is offered in multiple ways at SAEC.  Students are able to take morning or evening classes, twice a week.  Morning classes are offered from 8:30 am - 12:00 pm and evening classes are offered 5:00  - 8:30 pm.  Once a student decides morning or evening, they then decide if they want to be onsite in the main SAEC building, Mondays and Wednesdays or with live teachers through Zoom, from home, Tuesdays and Thursdays.  If selecting the Zoom option, the student must have a strong internet connection and a Chromebook, laptop or desktop.  SAEC does offer a loaner device when they are available and not all checked out.

A newer GED study option is FLEXStudy.  FLEXStudy allows a student to study anywhere, anytime, for 8 hours a week.  Seven hours are totally independent with lessons assigned by an SAEC instructor.  One hour a week is meeting with a GED instructor either on site at SAEC or through Zoom.  

Following completion of the GED exams, students can continue to prepare for college classes such SATC, KWU or K-State Salina through our services.  Students may also prepare for the TEAS Exam that is needed for various medical programs such Salina Tech's LPN program.
